Music is not a choice but a way of life for Ian Schumacher. As the son of a world-class jazz saxophonist and broadway national actress, music has always been an integral piece of Ian's existence. After attending his first live musical performance, seeing Michael Jackson perform, there was no question that music would be his life. From a young age, Ian was always singing. After studying drums and theatre for many years, his younger brother gave him a guitar. The rest is history.   

At the age of twenty, Ian became a father to his son Sky. From that moment on, Ian honed his craft and mastered the art of live performance. 

Ian Schumacher has performed as a full-time professional musician for over two decades, logging over 5,000 gigs and countless hours of performing over the course of his career. Ian also possesses an astute ear for sound and has demonstrated a gift for sound production and audio recording. He is versed in funk, rock, all facets of EDM, jam, indie, acoustic, Americana, blues, R&B and soul.

In addition to performing, Ian is the founder and host of the largest singer-songwriter competition in Atlanta, the Tin Roof Acoustic Showdown. After an incredible 27 series thus far, the Acoustic Showdown has awarded over $500,000 in cash and prizes to local musicians. Moreover, the Acoustic Showdown has created a musician community, fostering collaboration and talent discovery.
